Call-A-Ride provides medical transportation for seniors in Jackson County. The Call-A-Ride program was established by the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Jackson County in 1988. Volunteer drivers provide transportation to medical appointments for seniors (60+) and the disabled. Transportation assistance helps members of our community remain independent and able to live in their own homes.

Call-A-Ride uses volunteer drivers to ensure a safe ride for local seniors to get to their medical appointments. Many of the clients have no means of transportation and often have to cancel and go without medical care.

I need Medical Transportation. Do I Qualify For Call-A-Ride?

Participants must be 60 or older or have a disability that prevents them from driving or using the bus. In most cases, persons who have Medicaid/Oregon Health Plan are not eligible. Call-A-Ride is for persons that: do not drive; do not have a vehicle; are unable to use the regular RVTD bus system, and do not live with someone who can transport them. Participants must be able to get in and out of vehicle with minimal assistance and navigate their medical appointments on their own.

What Steps Is Call-A-Ride Taking To Keep Both Client and Volunteers Safe From COVID-19

To continue to promote safe volunteer practices for those who want to aid their time during this crisis, the Call-A-Ride program has taken practical steps to protect both the clients and volunteers health to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 and to better protect themselves.

Volunteers are provided with PPE, including hand sanitizer; Cleaner to wipe down between rides (door handles, seats, etc.) car shields or dividers; and masks to drivers and/or clients. Clients ride in the back seat for as much social distancing as possible. Prior to each ride, clients are screened by program staff for COVID related symptoms.
